EXPLOSION AT GOLDEN PENNY FLOUR KILLS WORKER



Tragedy struck on Monday at the Iganmu office of the Golden Penny Flour Mills Plc. in Lagos State after an explosion erupted from a boiler at the production section of the company and killed a worker, Folorunso Odunayo.

It was gathered that the deceased worked at the engine room of the firm. Hot water contained in the boiler was said to have spilled on the worker after it reportedly exploded. The worker died on the spot.
PUNCH Metro gathered that officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, Iganmu branch, who were alerted to the incident, took the corpse away.
When contacted the company’s Secretary/Director, Alhaji Olalekan Saliu, said, “I am not in Lagos.”
However, the company Learning Administrator, Mrs. Nike Adekoya-Saani, confirmed the incident, adding that she had yet to get the details.
“It happened at our Iganmu branch office. I was just informed this evening. I don’t have the full details,” she said.
The Director of the fire service, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said, “We received a call that there was an explosion at the Golden Penny Flour Mills at Eric More, Iganmu. It claimed the life of a man working inside then engine room. We handed the corpse to the police.”
