GAME OF THRONES LEADS PRIMETIME


Game Of Thrones will be the show to beat at the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards after landing an impressive 24 nominations.
The fantasy series, based on the books by George R. R. Martin, will compete for Outstanding Drama Series alongside House of Cards, Mad Men, Homeland, Downton Abbey, Better Call Saul and Orange Is the New Black.
Game of Throne stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and Lena Headey have each landed nods in the supporting actor drama categories, while Diana Rigg is shortlisted for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
The show also earned recognition for directing and writing.
Meanwhile, Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) will battle for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Claire Danes (Homeland) are among the contenders for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series prize.
In the comedy categories, Transparent, Modern Family, Veep, and Parks and Recreation are among those shortlisted for Outstanding Comedy Series, while the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series group features the likes of Don Cheadle (House of Lies), Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent), William H. Macy (Shameless) and Anthony Anderson (black-ish), and Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) will face off in the female category.
Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), Alan Cumming (The Good Wife), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) and Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black) are among those who have picked up supporting comedy nominations.
American Horror Story: Freak Show and Olive Kitteridge were also top Emmy nominees, earning 19 and 13 nods, respectively, including Outstanding Limited Series.
The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place in Los Angeles on 20 September. Comedian Andy Samberg will host.
